The Maison Poincaré : start the visit ! (3/3)

In this article, discover the contents of the SHARE and BREATHE spaces of the Maison Poincaré!

 

The SHARE space, the former tea room, will be a meeting place for researchers and the public, with a map illustrating how mathematics has been practiced and shared throughout the ages and around the world; a device recounting the experiences of researchers in an illustrated way; and a whisperer of formulas, from the best-known to the most recent ones, presented for their aesthetic value and the background they convey.

 

 

This space will also be where mathematics meets art. In particular, a selection of models from the IHP collection will be presented. Its patrimonial aspect will be preserved.

 

After visiting the different spaces of the Maison Poincaré, you will be able to take some time to discuss with the researchers present in the garden of the Maison Poincaré (the BREATHE space).

The replica of the famous Bourbaki painting, the original of which will be exhibited in the SHARE space, can be used as a support for exchanges, awakening the mathematician in each one of you!

During your conversation in the open air, your eye will inevitably be drawn to the symbol of the Maison Poincaré, the Grand Rulpidon, whose monumental size will allow you to "touch" the beauty of mathematics with your fingertips.

The Endowment Fund in a few words...

It has the capacity to receive funds exclusively from the private sector from individuals or legal entities whose passions are in line with those of the Institut Henri Poincaré.

 

The Fund's Board of Directors was chaired by Cédric Villani from its inception until March 7, 2019, when Sylvie Benzoni took over as interim Chair. Vincent Lefieux, representing the Cercle des entreprises partenaires de l'IHP on the Board of Directors, was elected President on May 29, 2019.
Through the Endowment Fund, companies and individuals can support the projects carried out by IHP by making financial, in-kind or skill-based contributions.

Eligible for corporate or income tax reductions, these contributions complement state and local funding of IHP projects.

 

The founding organizations of the Fund : CNRS, Sorbonne University (formerly UPMC), and three learned societies in mathematics - the Société Mathématique de France (SMF), the SMAI (Société des Mathématiques Appliquées et Industrielles), the SFdS (Société Française de Statistiques).
